Crooksville Council Meeting Minutes   Monday, February 17,        2014                                                                                        

ROLL CALL:  Mr. Lantz called the meeting to order with the following members present Mr. Rice, Mr. Redfern, Mr. Hampton, Mr. Allen, Ms. Driggs, and Mr. Mohler. Tom Collins and Jan Baughman were present.

MINUTES:  Motion to approve Clerk’s minutes was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Rice.  Motion carried.

REPORTS: A motion was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Hampton to approve the Mayor’s Reports for January. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Rice and seconded by Mr. Mohler to approve the Clerk’s Reports for January. Motion carried.

PAID BILLS:  A motion to approve Resolution 2014-12 paid bills and payroll was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Rice. Motion carried.

TO BE PAID BILLS:  A motion to approve Resolution 2014-13 to be paid bills was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Rice.  Motion carried.

TRANSFER:  A motion to approve Resolution 2014-14 transferring funds was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Hampton.  Motion carried.

PARK & RECREATION COMMITTEE: Mr. Hampton stated that they got the water problem under control and would like to thank Tim Bobb for getting this done. He stated that he was glad to be back at home for the games.

SERVICE COMMITTEE:  A motion to contract with Leckrone Sanitation to pickup refuse from Village owned properties effective March 3, 2014 was made by Mr. Hampton and seconded by Mr. Mohler. Motion carried.

Motion to replace phone system at Administration Building at a cost of $6,476.00 using the Village Capital Projects fund was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Redfern. Motion carried.

SAFETY COMMITTEE: Collin Dvorshock was present and would like to join the Fire/EMS department. He stated that his grandfather used to be on the department as well as his mother and stepdad. Collin said that he was on the junior department for a few years. He stated that he would like to join to help out the community and he does not have his schooling yet. Mayor Lantz stated that the background check came back good and he had a letter from Chief Hill stating that he would recommend Collin to the Fire/EMS department. A motion was made by Mr. Rice and seconded by Mr. Mohler to accept Collin Dvorshock to the Fire/ EMS department. Motion carried.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE:  A motion was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Hampton to suspend the rules for Ordinance 2484, amending the 2014 Budget as an emergency. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Hampton to accept Ordinance 2484, amending the 2014 Budget as an emergency. Motion carried.

OTHER OLD BUSINESS: Mr. Redfern stated that he talked to the Mayor of McConnelsville about their Ordinance on weight reduction on alleys and he stated that they were experiencing the same problems we were to keep trash trucks off. He stated that he would like to look into getting one hauler for the town.

 

 

 

Mr. Redfern stated that he tried to find the weights for different size trash trucks and found only that the average for a single axle truck was 16.5 tons. He stated that this needs researched more to see what Council would want to do. He stated that they will talk about this next Monday night as workshop. Tom Collins stated that Jan and he will get on the contract for Leckrone sanitation and verified that Council does not want leaf pick up. Council stated that they did not. 

NEW BUSINESS: Nothing.

CITIZENS COMMENTS/COMPLAINTS: Nothing. 

EXECUTIVE SESSION: A motion was made by Mr. Rice and seconded by Mr. Mohler to go into executive session per ORC 121.22 (G) (1) personnel. Motion carried.

Council is out of executive session and Mayor Lantz stated that decisions will be made at a later date.

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion to adjourn was made by Mr. Mohler and seconded by Mr. Redfern. Motion carried.
